BOOKS and other amusements
I'm a writer. And writers are made of reading. So, here's a list of books and a few other things that have shaped me. I guess this tell's more about me than I can ever say.
The Old Man and the Sea was a late discovery. But Santiago's determination to fight until the end, to struggle until he cabe back, helped built what I am today.
My Sweet Orange Tree (Meu Pé de Laranja Lima, in original Portuguese) is the book that links me to my loved father in a most powerful way. It is also the book that forged my imagination.
The Unbearable Lightness of Being is perhaps the most beautiful book I read. It helped carve the aesthetics of my writing and unravel a bit of the complexity of human relationships.
Here's a simple and fast one: The Book of Dreams. I'm passionate about the way Wieden Kennedy and Honda see things. Their optimism is contagious. You can read all about it here.
At last, not a book, but all of a man's work: Rubem Braga taught me how to extract great stories from everyday life. It was by reading him that I learned to observe and see value in small things.
